BEGINNER DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Mondays:  6:30 – 7:30 p.m.                                      Room: Graphics Room

The Beginner's Digital Photography class is for anyone new to or looking to learn more about their camera. We will learn the elements of a good photograph and how to achieve one! Must bring own camera.

 RUG BRAIDING

Mondays:  6:00 – 7:30 p.m.                              Room:  123

7 Sessions:  February 6 - March 26                  Tuition: $75                      

Learn the timeless craft of wool rug braiding.  Rug braiding dates back hundreds of years.  Originally braided rugs served a functional purpose to warm cold floors.  However, these beautifully crafted and colorful rugs soon became admired for their pleasing appeal and charm they add to any room.  Today wool braided rugs cover floors in both traditional and modern homes.  Made of strips of woolen fabric, braided rugs can be tailored to fit any size or color scheme in every home. 

During the seven-week program, students will learn the skills necessary to complete an oval, 2X3, braided rug.  Students don’t need prior rug braiding experience to participate in the classes.  If you can thread a needle, sew on a button, and braid hair you can create your own heirloom rug.  The supply list for the class is listed below. 

Rug Braiding Supplies are purchased at American Folk Art & Craft Supply.  American Folk Art & Craft Supply carries products specifically for rug braiding.  American Folk Art & Craft Supply is located at 1415 Hanover St. (Rt. 139), Hanover.  (781) 871-7277.  Store hours are Tue through Saturday 10:30 – 6:00. 

Rug Braiding Supplies: (Supplies will cost approximately $85, wool fabric will cost approximately between $65 - $75 depending on the wool chosen.)

Lacing Needle
Lacing Thread
Leather Finger Guards (between 2or 3)
Instruction Booklet
Wool Fabric (three colors 2 yards each)

Sewing Basket Supplies:

Scissors (sharp and able to cut fabric well)
Thread (color coordinated to wool fabric)

Large Eye Darning Needle (size 16)
“T” Pins or straight pins with large round head (approximately 12)
Tape Measure
Sewing/ Knitting Gauge (a 6 inch metal ruler with a movable guide)

SAT REVIEW

Mondays & Wednesdays:   6:30 - 8:30 p.m.             Room: 121/123                                             

8 Sessions:  March 28 - May 2                                 Tuition:  $90

This course is designed to aid students, particularly juniors, in preparing for the Scholastic Aptitude Test given in the Spring.  Sample tests will be used to develop skills and experience in dealing with both the verbal and mathematics sections of the test.  Test taking strategies will also be explored.   The Kaplan SAT Strategies, Practice and Review 2012 book is mandatory for this course and must be purchased before the first class.

WEEKEND NAVIGATOR BOATING COURSE

Mondays:  6:30-8:30 p.m.                                  Room:  126

8 sessions:  February 6 - April 2                        Tuition:  $15 (plus $50.00 materials fee to be paid directly to instructor - check only due first night of class)  

Class is for boaters that have completed the Basic Skills and Seamanship class taught by the Coast Guard Auxiliary or the US Power Squadron.  Class lessons range from Basic Navigation Fundamentals to Magnetic Compass Reading - Chart Reading, Vessel Set and Drift, Speed/Distance/Time Calculations and more.  Navigation tools will be specified by the instructor at the first class.

FUNDAMENTALS OF  WEIGHT TRAINING - 12 Week Special Pricing

Mondays and Wednesdays:    6:00-7:00 p.m. - Session I          Room: Weight Room
                                              7:00-8:00 p.m. - Session II

 12 Weeks:  February 6 - May 14                                              Tuition: $180 Per Session

In this twelve-week course you will learn safe and effective weight training exercises using weight machines, free weights, resistance bands, and the resist-a-ball.  Learn to challenge yourself in your workouts.  Watch your strength and energy levels increase.  One of my goals is to instill confidence in my students to be able to workout in any gym or at home.  This class is for all fitness levels.  Limited  to 10 students.  Students 18 years or younger must register with a parent.  Register early!!
