Who is
eligible for this year's program?

in the Plymouth River School district. They must also be scheduled to
attend kindergarten at PRS in September 2010 or 2011.

How do I
register my child?
If your child is
currently in kindergarten or will attend kindergarten in 2010 or
2011, you will need to
register your child online or by filling out a registration
form. Please leave this form in the PRS 1000 Book Club bin
located at the 1000 Book Club racks in the front foyer of PRS - or you may mail it to
Mrs. Donovan at
Plymouth River School, 200 High Street,
Hingham, MA 02043 - Attn. 1000 Book Club. Once we have
received your registration, you will receive an email to
let you know that you may select your first bag.

It is
essential for you to view the online 1000 Book Club Program PowerPoint
presentation before you select your first bag. It will explain all the details as to how the
program works.
What
if a book is missing from the bag we are taking (or returning)?
Place the bag in the 1000 Book Club bin. Be sure to check the
books that belong in the bag both BEFORE you sign it out, and again when
you RETURN it. There is a photo list in each bag of the books that belong in
that bag.
Families will be held accountable for the books/bags signed out to them.
What
if a book in the bag is not interesting to my child?
Feel
free to read a book from another source (home or public library), or
just talk about the pictures in the book. Don't feel you have to read
every word if the book is beyond your child's comprehension level. If
a book seems "too simple" for your child, perhaps he or she
could "read" the words. If your child is not interested in
the subject matter presented in the book, then choose another from
your own library! Please remember,
the main focus of the program is for your child to enjoy
sharing books and stories with you. If a book is not enjoyable, for
whatever reason, it is best not to force it.
What
do I do if the sign-out card is full?
Place the bag in the
1000 Book Club bin. We will replace the card with a new one and
place it back on the rack.
How
many bags may we take at one time?
Families
may take only one bag at a time and return it within
two (2) weeks.
When
may we exchange bags?
When
school is in session - 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
During
school vacations - 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Please
DO NOT park in the bus loop.
What
do I do when my child reaches a "milestone" bag?
When
a child has completed one of the “milestones” of 25, 50, 75, or 100
bags, parents may compete an online form.
They could also fill out an incentives sheet and place
it in the 1000 Book Club bin or mail it to Mrs. Donovan at 200 High
Street, Hingham, MA 02043. How
long can we stay in the 1000 Book Club program?
Families may continue
to check out book bags until spring of the year their child "graduates" from
kindergarten or reaches the goal of 1000 books (whichever comes first). When
is the next Kick-Off and who will be eligible for the program?
Our next Kick-Off
event is scheduled for March 25, 2012. Preschoolers who will attend
kindergarten at Plymouth River School in September 2012 are
invited. Please register here for the
kick-off. I'd
love to help out with this program. How do I get involved?
Please fill out this form.
After you have completed the form, someone
from the program will contact you. Thanks! |
