Day 3

Adventure Club the next trip is to Challenge Rocks in Hingham.  It will be on Tuesday October 29th after school.  Permission slips can be found on the Classroom site or with one of the advisers.  YOU MUST GIVE YOUR PERMISSION SLIP DIRECTLY TO Mrs. Giordani, Ms. Miller or Mrs. Smith to secure a spot on the trip.  Sign up early because this one will sell out!

Ambassador Club Don’t forget to wear pink on Friday in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness!  The Ambassadors will be collecting donations for cancer research during homeroom on the 25th, and anyone who chooses to donate will receive a pink ribbon! Last year. The ambassadors raised $901.00!  Help us beat that number!  If you would like to help make ribbons for this day, come to our next meeting tomorrow.   All are welcome!

Fall Archery Intramurals today afterschool from 2:05-3:05. (Weather Permitting)  Grades 6-8 welcome.  Limited to 20 students (must sign up on Tuesday mornings to ensure a slot.  Sign up sheet is posted on Fitness Room door early Tuesday mornings.

Homework Club: 6th grade will meet in room 107 today after school with Mr. Weiss.

Keyboarding:  today after school in room 210.

Picture Makeup Day Thursday after school from 2 – 3.  Anyone who has not had their picture taken should go to the cafeteria after school. Students having pictures retaken must have their original photos with them to turn in.

Pumpkin Making:  Come learn to carve a pumpkin like a pro!  On Wednesday October 30th from 2-4pm.  All you need to do is sign up in room 305, bring a pumpkin to school that day, (or drop it off earlier) and get a ride home at 4pm.  We will go over the steps to creating a pumpkin Masterpiece.

 REMINDER:  Students who have not picked up items dropped off in the office cubbies (lunches, water bottles, gym clothes) should check before the end of the day today.  Anything not picked up will be moved to the Lost and Found area near the Cafeteria.

Sixth Grade Soccer match on Monday was Gustafson B block versus McDonough F block.

Gustafson B block earned the participation goal.

Scoring for Gustafson B  Block was Gerard Bottini with one goal.

Scoring for McDonough F Block were:

Ryan LaRonde, Van Martin, Lucas Nees, Tommy Simpson All with one goal each

Final score was 4-2 with McDonough F block winning the game to advance

Day 1 (No Late Buses Today)

6th Grade Harvest Happenings is this afternoon from 2:00-3:30.  Tickets are $10 and  will be sold during lunch.   Cash or checks payable to HMS PTO.

This special event, Stories & Snack, takes place on Monday, October 21st in the Children’s Room at 3:30 p.m. There are limited spots so sign up today in the LMC!

Both teams had 10 students in attendance so no participation goal was given.

Scoring for McDonough A Block were Ella O’Neill, Josh Poulson, Bridget Pringle, and Max Sullivan- all with one goal each. Tucker Tomlinson scored two goals for McDonough A.

Scoring for McDonough B Block were:

Gavin Anderson, Paul Gragg, Kevin Houle, Andrew Sullivan and James Watters- all with one goal each

Francisco Kasameyer- Kelly  with two goals

Brady Johnson, Brian Murray, and Ian Smith  with three goals a piece

The final score was 16 to 6.  McDonough B won the game.

We played a scrimmage match dividing the present players up into Pinnies and non-Pinnies.  The Pinnie Team won with a score of 7 to 5.

One goal each was scored by Walker Bogen, Mary Murray, Brayden Robinson, Ethan Warhaftig, and John Leone.

Adventure Club: The next Adventure Club trip will be to Starland after school on Tuesday September 24th for laser tag, bumper cars, go karts, rock wall and more.  Permission slips can be found on the Adventure Club Classroom site code: nsrmr79  or from Mrs. Giordani, Ms. Miller or Mrs. Smith.  The deadline to sign up is Friday September 20 and permission slips must be handed directly to Mrs. Giordani, Ms. Miller or Mrs. Smith to secure a spot.

TALKabout It Book Discussion is back! We start off this year reading Extraordinary Birds, a book written by Sandy Stark-McGinnis. This author visited HMS last spring and many 7th graders had the chance to hear her speak. Come by the LMC to sign out a copy. Discussion will take place on October 26th in the LMC.

6th Grade Soccer:  Sixth Grade Soccer match on Friday was Gustafson C block versus Orcutt A block. The score was 13 to 0 with Gustafson C as the victors.

Scoring for Gustafson C were:

Ambassador Club:  Do you want to help make HMS a better place? Then come join the Ambassador Club on Thursday, September 19, 2019 in room 308 with Ms. Elinoff and Mrs. Pellegrini.  We will start planning our events for the fall including the student vs. faculty basketball game, Halloween Candy collection for the troops, and Wear Pink Day!  All are welcome!

Homework Club:  7th and 8th Grade Homework Club will be held on Thursdays in Room 303 with Mr. McCulloch.  All are welcome.
