Adventure Club –  the next trip will be to Skyzone in Kingston on Tuesday December 17th.  The cost is $35, which also includes pizza.  Permission slips can be found on the Adventure Club Google Classroom site or from one of the advisors.  All permission slips, waivers and money must be given directly to Mrs. Giordani, Ms. Miller or Mrs. Smith by Friday December 13th to secure a spot.
Grade 6 Penny Wars Attention all grade 6 teams – the Penny Wars have been continued until Monday. All last minute donations should be brought to homeroom on Monday for the final tabulation!. Which team will win? Vikings? Greeks? or maybe the mighty Romans?

LMC:  Lunch Bunch Book discussion on Thursday, December 19th during all E blocks. Bring your lunch to the LMC and we will have a lively discussion of the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio.

One Act Plays December 11th and 12th from 7-9 pm in the HMS Auditorium.

PAW – Next PAW is Tuesday, December 10th in Room 215.

Students that are missing items should check the lost and found outside the cafeteria. All items will be donated to a charitable organization over the winter break.

Fitness Room Intramurals:
Today, December 3rd from 2-3pm.  (There will be a sign up sheet outside the fitness room starting in the morning for the first 20 students).  Please check Hingham Middle School Phys Ed Twitter for any morning cancellations because of snow or weather.  If it is snowing in the morning it will be cancelled. 

Grade 6 Penny Wars Today we have our first monetary totals for the grade 6 penny wars. The Viking team remains in the lead with $379.08. The Greek team is in second place with a total of $237.71 and the Romans are close behind with a total of $205. 97. Today and tomorrow are the last days to turn in money for the Penny Wars!

7th and 8th graders remember that there are collection bottles in the caf. For you to support your 6th grade teachers and team! Keep up the great work – tomorrow is the last day!

Green Team meeting today after school in Room 316. Snacks will be provided. All are welcome!

The Sixth Grade Soccer Final match was played yesterday between Gustafson C block and McDonough B block. McDonough B block earned the participation goal.

Scoring for McDonough B block were Tessa Grossman, Brian Murray, and Andrew Sullivan all with one goal each.

Scoring for Gustafson C block were Sophia McDougall with 2 goals and Will Haggerty with three goals.

The final score was 5-4 with Gustafson C block winning.

7th Grade EXPO:  Attention 7th graders, the Team Expo will begin at 7:50 today in the Auditorium.  Please meet your team and sit in your designated section.

Ambassador Club reminds 8th Graders who want to participate in the student vs. faculty basketball game can sign up during lunch.  Look for the Ambassadors who will have a sign-up sheet.  Remember, you need to bring in a new pair of socks on the 25th(or before) to donate to the Ambassadors’ sock collection for the homeless in order to play!  6th, 7th and 8th graders who want to come and watch can bring in a new pair of socks to the game on the 25th!  

Sixth Grade Soccer match on Thursday was Gustafson A block versus Gustafson C  block.

Gustafson A block earned the participation goal.

Scoring for Gustafson C Block were:

Asher Tarby, Patrick Smith, Aidan Kelly, and Will Haggerty with one goal each.

Eddie Flemming scored 2 goals.

The final score was 6-1 with Gustafson C block winning the game to advance.

Gustafson C block earned the participation goal with 12 players.
Scoring for Gustafson C Block in regulation was Will Haggerty with three goals and Eddie Fleming with two goals.
Scoring for Gustafson F Block was Charlie Delay with three goals and Freedom (William Wallace) with two goals and Maddy Carpenito with one goal.
At the end of regulation the game was tied at 6-6.
In the shootout the last kicker of the shootout, Eddie Fleming, scored to help Gustafson C block defeat Gustafson F block.

Sixth Grade Soccer:  Sixth Grade Soccer match on Thursday was McDonough B block versus Gustafson A block.

Scoring for McDonough B Block in regulation was Ian Smith with one goal.

Scoring for Gustafson A Block was Cam MacKenna with one goal.

At the end of regulation the game was tied at 1-1.

In the shootout two goals were scored by McDonough B. Ian Smith and Brian Murray score one goal each. Scoring for Gustafson A in the shootout was Jack Monroe with one goal.

McDonough B won this very close game. Great game to all who participated!

LMC:  Show a little thanks and join us for the CRAFTERNOON in the LMC after school this week – we are making “Thank you for your service” cards for Veterans which will be sent with the donated Halloween candy.

Sign up in the LMC to attend the Cartooning Workshop with Mat Brown held on Saturday, November 9 at 1:30 at HPL. No need to be an artist, all levels are welcome as Mat will guide you through his work as a cartoonist and teach you how to do it yourself!

Night of Magic:  Tonight from 6 – 8 pm for Sixth grade students and families who purchased tickets.  6:00pm – 8:00pm in the HMS Cafeteria.

Please donate your excess Halloween candy to deployed soldiers from Hingham.  All of the math teachers have collection boxes in their classrooms.  Candy will be collected through tomorrow, November 8th.

Candy Donations:  Please donate your excess Halloween candy to deployed soldiers from Hingham.  All of the math teachers have collection boxes in their classrooms.  Candy will be collected through Friday, November 8th.

Night of Magic:  Thursday, November 7th, Sixth grade students and families are invited to a Night of Magic from 6:00pm – 8:00pm in the HMS Cafeteria.  $5 per person/$20 max per family.

One Book, One School Day:  Happy One Book, One School Day, and a very special welcome to our visiting author, Stacy McAnulty.

On Saturday, November 9th @ 1:30 PM, former Building 19 cartoonist, Mat Brown, will lead a cartooning workshop open to all middle and high school students. Whether you’re an avid artist or an interested beginner, join us for a great experience. Please register online or at the children’s desk.

Ambassador Club:  HMS, because of you, the Ambassador Club reached their $1,000 goal for donations towards breast cancer. The grand total for donations came to $1,036.32, which means Mr. Riordan will be sporting his pink attire today. Thanks for making this happen!

Sixth Grade Soccer:  Yesterday’s match was McDonough A block versus Gustafson B block.

Both teams had 10 students in attendance so no participation goal was given.

Scoring for McDonough A Block were Ella O’Neill, Josh Poulson, Bridget Pringle, and Max Sullivan- all with one goal each. Tucker Tomlinson scored two goals for McDonough A.

Scoring for McDonough B Block were:

We played a scrimmage match dividing the present players up into Pinnies and non-Pinnies.  The Pinnie Team won with a score of 7 to 5.

One goal each was scored by Walker Bogen, Mary Murray, Brayden Robinson, Ethan Warhaftig, and John Leone.

Gerard Bottini scored 3 goals and Gabe Tesler scored 4.

Adventure Club: The next Adventure Club trip will be to Starland after school on Tuesday September 24th for laser tag, bumper cars, go karts, rock wall and more.  Permission slips can be found on the Adventure Club Classroom site code: nsrmr79  or from Mrs. Giordani, Ms. Miller or Mrs. Smith.  The deadline to sign up is Friday September 20 and permission slips must be handed directly to Mrs. Giordani, Ms. Miller or Mrs. Smith to secure a spot.

Ambassador Club:  Do you want to help make HMS a better place? Then come join the Ambassador Club today after school in room 308 with Ms. Elinoff and Mrs. Pellegrini.  We will start planning our events for the fall including the student vs. faculty basketball game and Wear Pink Day!  If you can’t make it this Thursday, come to next Tuesday’s meeting after school!  All are welcome!

6th Grade Soccer:  Yesterday’s Sixth Grade Soccer match was between McDonough C block versus Orcutt B block.

The game score was a tie after regulation play-time which resulted in a shootout.

Scoring for Orcutt B were:

John MacLachlan with 1 goal

Brandon Oliwa with 1 goal

Nick Smith with 1 goal

This team also earned the participation goal.

Scoring for McDonough C were:

Lucy Ellis with 1 goal

Maggie Engel with 1 goal

Connor Gately with 1 goal

Miles Parker with 1 goal

During the shoot-out, each team had 14 shots which resulted in a win for McDonough C with Miles Parker scoring the game-winning goal.

The goalie for McDonough C saving all shots on net during the shoot out was Benjamin Wiseman.
