Smoking

A student is smoking if:

(1) student is holding a cigarette;

(2) student is in process of lighting a cigarette;

(3) student is actually smoking a cigarette; or

(4) student in process of disposing of a cigarette

Punishment for violation of the smoking policy is automatic, as follows:

First offense: one day “in-school” suspension from all classes and school activities.

Second offense: three day suspension from all classes and school activities.

Third offense: five day suspension from all classes and school activities.

Further violations: Minimum of five day suspension with additional penalties to be determined by the school administration.

Students found to be carrying cigarettes or other tobacco products will be subject to detention and the item(s) will be confiscated.
